Could you tell us what the server response that you get is? Maybe you've been having the horrible luck of trying to connect when no one can?.

@Tbird, The problems are either i successfully connect, but the terrain doesnt download, and I'm falling forever and ever and ever, or

Tell us about the system your using. Windows, Mac, Or linux. 32 bit or 64 bit in Os and Java version. I was having problems with 32 bit java on a 64 bit os. Maybe that will help. Also what version of java?

Is there anything else about your system that seems flaky? Like streaming videos or music? It could be a bad router, nic component, or some other device that has gone bad that's glitching your system. Sometimes the windows driver version for hardware is glitchy from the updates. Sorry, I know so many things to explore.
